Spencer In the MTC

Yeah! He made it and is Alive!

Here is his first letter to let us know he made it.

Hello Mother. I have made it here to Ghana Safely. All is going well. They gave us a few short minutes to send a quick email saying that we made it ok. The plane ride was good. Long, but good. I was able to sleep most of the way. We all made it through customs ok. when they picked us up the stuffed all of our luggage into one van and all of us elders into another van. It was super packed and VERY hot in there. it was a cool to see all of the people on the street trying to sell stuff to the cars that went by. It made traffic pretty slow though. but we made it. The MTC doesn't have a lot of AC. only in the Chapel. That is now my new favorite room. :)  I was still a little tired when we got to the MTC but after a nights rest I'm doing well.

It is super hot here! I don't think i have ever sweat so much in my life while just sitting down, or even sleeping for that matter. The meals haven't been too bad so far. This morning we had a hot dog for breakfast with some onions and some sauce on it. I guess that is pretty common here.  And i guess you could have called it a hot dog bun. but it surely wasn't. it was just a big piece of bread that had a slice in it to place the hot dog.

My companion is Elder Ihejirika. He is from Nigeria and will be serving there after our stay at the MTC. We all got paired up with elders from Nigeria or Ghana. There is about 5 or 6 of us that will be heading to Sierra Leone together. All American except one, i think. They are all so awesome. They are all so willing to wait on us and serve us. They are really nice and awesome. I felt bad because when we were unpacking our things I have like triple the amount of stuff as my companion.

It isn't as sunny as I thought it would be, but that is because of how humid it is. It covers the sky. They said that it isn't always like this. So hopefully I will get to see some blue sky in a little bit. They said it might rain in the next day or so. so i guess we will see how bad it really is.

Well, my time is up and we have to go back to class now. I love you all a lot! I'll talk to you soon.

Love Elder Jones

Then we got another E-Mail :) (we were told the he would not be able to e-mail us so we are grateful that he can)
He told us that he is getting used to the heat. That he got to go to the Temple. and is just doing well. He sent some pictures and I am just so excited for him. I miss him tons and cried when I saw these just cause I knew that he is doing what he is suppose to and is actually there.

LOVE YOU SPENCER!

February

So, I have not gotten better at updating my blog. Here is February in a nut shell. Skyler turned 11 and we had a huge family dinner with cake and Ice Cream. It was a blast.

Valentines was spent working and then Skyler and I had a Heart shaped pizza from Papa Johns and he did not realize it was a heart. :)  LOL Mom and Dad went to the neighbors for a party and Spencer and DJ took dates to the Dessert Star Play House and had a blast.

On the 15th Spencer went thru the Bountiful Temple for his own endowments. It was so wonderful that he could do that and we could all be there for him.

I also got a Job promotion in the middle of February. I am now a Loan Interviewer. I am learning a lot and have a ways to go but I love it.

March Is more eventful and posts will come very soon!

Lindsey& Curtis Wedding

On Friday December 31st my wonderful roommate Lindsey and dear friend Curtis got married. It was so beautiful and fun. I have enjoyed watching their relationship from beginning to end(well not total end) :) It was a very interesting courtship but it totally works for them. They are the cutest couple ever and i am so excited for them.

The sealing was at 10 in the Logan temple and then they had a luncheon at 1 at the river woods.

My favorite part of the sealing was when Lindsey did her "Lindsey Giggle" and all of us who new Lindsey had to giggle also.

So we went down to wait for them to come out of the temple but it was only like 4 degrees outside so we all crowded inside the small opening of the Logan temple. Me, Anthony, Emma and a few other people crowded around a small heater vent in between the doors. one of our favorite things that happen is this old man came up to Anthony and told him a silly joke. Oh man we could not stop laughing. :) then FINALLY they came out.

Oh They look so cute together! Lindsey looks so so beautiful! I love her Winter Coat thing and muff. We took like a few just group photos cause it was so so cold and then we just had to meet up at the luncheon.
Lindsey and I love HOCHO(Hot Chocolate) so so much and she had a HOCHO bar there for when you showed up and we waited while they finished pictures:) it was great. Lindsey and I went to the Riverwoods to check out the place to see if she wanted it there and we got to try the food and OH MAN It is so so good. So i was super excited for Lunch. And it was super good.
A group of us who were friends of the bride and groom ended up sitting together and making new friends it was a blast.

It was a super good day and I am really super excited for them. I am going to miss Lindsey super super super much. She has been my angle for the past little bit. she started out as my VT companion and then in April i said i was looking for a place to live and she said that one of her roommates might be moving out and that i could possible take her spot. well that is what happened. Lindsey is seriously and angle and a super good friend. I am truly blessed to have her in my life.
